What are the Symptoms of TDOS Syndrome?

The TDOS Syndrome is the interconnectivity of four individual co-factors that impact the body’s natural ability to function optimally. It also prevents weight loss, and has made a huge overall impact on human health. These four co-factors are toxicity, nutritional deficiency, overweight, and stress. When combined, they contribute to a downward spiral of health, preventing the body from working as efficiently as it should.

“The TDOS Syndrome is the biggest — and most under the radar superstorm in the history of human health and wellness,” says Peter Greenlaw, author of The TDOS Syndrome. “The rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease are increasing exponentially due to its effects.”

“The TDOS Syndrome is a major contributing factor to speeding up the aging process,” says Bill Andrews, PhD, Sierra Sciences & Institute for Advanced Telomere Medicine. “My research as a molecular biologist for more than 30 years has focused on slowing down or ideally reversing the aging process. TDOS has to be recognized and addressed in any strategy to combat the aging process.”

TDOS Syndrome – When Toxicity, Nutritional Deficiency, Overweight, and Stress Collide to Threaten Our Health by Peter Greenlaw with Nicolas Messina, MD is an important book. It explains the four harmful co-factors and provides evidence for this syndrome.

The Four Harmful TDOS Co-Factors

Toxicity is the first of the four co-factors, and it plays a significant role in dieting and weight loss. A century ago, almost anyone could drink from a freshwater stream, and kids drank straight from the backyard hose. Water supplies didn’t need to go through purification stations to remove sewage, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Enhancing water supplies with fluoride or other minerals was unnecessary.

In the past, our food didn’t contain herbicides and pesticides. Animals weren’t pumped full of growth hormones. And there was no need to re-enhance foods with vitamins and minerals now missing from our food supplies. Because of the onslaught of toxicity, the human body has created its own toxins called “obesogens.” The main problem regarding weight loss is that the body refuses to release excess weight. To do so is a threat to poisoning the body with these toxins.

Nutritional Deficiency plays a huge role on its own, but also as a cofactor. When the body doesn’t get optimal nutrition it can’t function at the highest level. Our food supplies no longer have sufficient vitamins and minerals needed for the body to operate optimally. Most diet approaches include some type of caloric restriction. But when calories are cut, the amount of nutrition is diminished. This results in the body getting less than what it needs for peak performance.

The body needs proper proportions of protein, carbohydrates, and fats as well as vitamins and minerals. For example, if you start an exercise program, the body needs protein to help with building muscle and recovery. When the body is riddled with toxicity, it’s harder for it to process any nutrition. And when there is a lack of nutrition to begin with, every problem gets magnified. Combine that nutritional deficiency with diets high in processed foods and sugar and you have the recipe for an out of balance body.

If you are overweight, obese or too thin, it’s likely your body is dealing with a certain degree of toxic burden. If the body is flooded with toxins, sustainable weight loss becomes impossible because the excess fat is protecting the body from itself. If the surplus of fat is released without a nutritional cleansing program, it’s possible it could flood the body with toxicity.

Those toxins could cause a myriad of problems and potentially make a person sick.

When adding overweight to toxicity and nutritional deficiency, we can see each co-factor’s individual role and combined effect. One major reason conventional weight loss programs fail in the long run is due in part to the impact of the TDOS Syndrome.

Stress in the last harmful co-factor, and a killer on its own. People who have otherwise been in good health have been decimated by stress. As we know, external life stresses can raise blood pressure among other things. Excess weight also puts a significant amount of stress on the body.

What are Symptoms Associated with TDOS Syndrome?

There are physical, hormonal, and mental symptoms associated with TDOS Syndrome. The physical symptoms range from weight gain and digestive issues to fatigue. Hormonal imbalance and insomnia are hormonally related, while brain fog and mood swings are mental symptoms.

The causes of weight gain include an unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, toxicity, and the increase in the stress related hormone cortisol. Certain antidepressant drugs, diabetes medications, corticosteroids, and antihistamines can cause weight gain. There are also the risks of developing chronic diseases, reduced mobility, and the negative impact on mental health.

Digestive issues result from a lack of nutrient dense food, pure water and a variety of regular exercise. Fresh fruits and vegetables along with nuts, seeds, and grains — plant-based foods found in the heart healthy and anti-inflammatory Mediterranean diet — promote optimal digestion. Proper hydration with purified water and regular exercise helps move food through the intestines and bowels for effective elimination.

Eliminating Fatigue, Hormonal and Mental Symptoms

Fatigue can be caused by lifestyle choices like not getting enough regular exercise or sleep to recover from daily stress. Getting at least eight hours of sleep will help lower the hormone cortisol, which causes hormonal imbalance and weight gain. Irregular menstrual cycles and mood swings are also associated with hormonal imbalances.

Insomnia can be caused by a lack of regular exercise or stress management. It can result from over-stimulation late in the afternoon by having too much caffeine or in the late evening by excessive alcohol consumption. Too much late night media exposure or screen time can also prevent getting enough quality sleep.

Underlying physical factors, also causes of fatigue, include medical conditions like anemia or thyroid disorders and can be treated with medications. Mental factors like stress management —  using meditation, yoga, or biofeedback — can help eliminate fatigue. Maintaining a balanced diet with fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and various lean proteins is also very important. These are all very cost effective and simple natural strategies.

Brain fog and mood swings are mental symptoms which can be triggered by lack of sleep, stress, and certain medications. Practical and cost effective strategies to alleviate and prevent them include making a few simple lifestyle changes. These include eating a whole foods diet, increasing daily cardiovascular exercise and doing regular resistance training. Practicing stress management techniques, utilizing support from loved ones and seeking professional help, if needed, are also helpful.

The TDOS Solutions

It’s apparent we need to take a new approach for achieving optimal health. The reason is simple: the basic rules for getting healthy and sustaining wellness have changed. On one hand, it’s about removing toxins, excess pounds, and stress from our bodies. On the other, it’s about absorbing necessary nutrients and treating the body as a whole system rather than a collection of individual parts.

Weight loss, for example, can no longer be viewed as simply a process of losing pounds. And the techniques for weight reduction can’t only be targeted at shrinking the waistline. Since the  body is a system, it requires solutions that are holistic and synergistic.

What is the most effective and multi-faceted approach to manage these problems? Exactly how can we take each co-factor and eliminate it — or reduce its influence on our ability to maximize our quality of life?

It begins with a revolutionary nutritional process and its application to reduce your toxic load. It underscores that reducing calories and performing exercise isn’t the most effective way to release weight — and keep it off. It’s an approach that has changed the lives of millions worldwide.

How The TDOS Solutions will Improve Your Health

There is another evidence based book which advances the conversation begun in TDOS Syndrome – When Toxicity, Nutritional Deficiency, Overweight, and Stress Collide to Threaten Our Health by Peter Greenlaw with Nicolas Messina, MD. The second in this series, Fighting the Toxicity, Nutritional Deficiency, Overweight, and Stress Syndrome, presents preventative and regenerative solutions.

“I congratulate the authors for bringing to light the major problems associated with our ever more increasingly toxic environment and greater nutritional deficiencies, obesity, and stress… Finally, we have a way to help our bodies to work the way nature intended,” says Dennis Harper, MD, who was in General Practice for 20 years with 16 years devoted to the practice of complementary medicine. He is the author of Cleansing for Life: Nature’s Best Kept Health Secret.

Benefits of Greenlaw’s Solutions

Below are a dozen interrelated benefits of implementing one of the solutions detailed in Greenlaw’s second book.

Immune Support – Nutritional fasting (one of the key TDOS Solutions) and removing impurities from the body while replenishing it with vital nutrients can improve immune function and lessen immunity threats within the body.

Better Cellular Function – Our cells need essential nutrients and compounds to be healthy and communicate. Nutritional fasting delivers these nutrients and creates an environment where cells can effectively communicate and perform optimally.

Antioxidant Protection – Free radicals damage cells. Antioxidants fight free radicals, and are a part of the TDOS Solution.

Weight Loss – It’s proven that weight loss decreases the chances of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. This increases your life expectancy, and following the TDOS Solutions leads to weight loss.

Weight Control – Nutritional fasting can help support the loss of excess fat and water and increase muscle mass. This stabilizes weight and prevents weight gain.

Enhanced Mental Abilities – A recent study revealed that mental abilities improve with weight loss. Most people who have implemented the TDOS Solutions into their life report weight loss, and therefore improved concentration and focus.

Enhanced Nutrition – The best way to take control of your health is through improved nutrition. One of the few things in life you can control is what goes into your body. And what goes into your body determines how well it looks and functions. TDOS Solutions offers a unique nutritional approach.

Less Food Cravings – As you nutritionally fast, it’s very common for your unhealthy food cravings to disappear. These cravings are replaced with satiety and a sense of well being.

Better Digestion – The TDOS Solutions products deliver enzymes and other vital nutrients to your digestive tract. Your digestive system is replenished with good bacteria and enzymes to help with the breaking down and absorption of food.

Rejuvenation with Mineral Suites – The TDOS Solutions approach contains vitamins, nutrients, and essential major minerals (macro minerals) and trace elements. These are key to a healthy body because cells can’t function properly without them. Minerals and trace elements are easily absorbed. Once they are in the body, they speed up innumerable cellular reactions.

Adaptogenic Support – Some of the approaches in the TDOS Solutions contain adaptogens, which have been used by Olympic Athletes for years. Adaptogens are agents (usually botanicals) that help the body “adapt” to physical and mental stress.

Premature Aging Protection – Nutrient deficiencies, impurities, and toxins can damage our cells and organs and lead to premature aging. Nutritional fasting slows the onslaught of toxins and creates a shield of protection for increased energy.
